Ruling on Going on Hajj with Elderly

Hajj with Elderly Parents

Performing Hajj with elderly parents can be quite challenging that requires extreme patience but it has its rewards. Due to their lack of physical strength they are relied on you for everything and it could be overwhelming. Try to be patient and always remember that this adds to your rewards.

Anas ibn Malik (RA) narrated that the Prophet (pbuh) said, “If a young man honors an elderly on account of his age, Allah appoints someone to honor him in his old age.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Hajj for Disabled Pilgrims

Hajj is physically demanding and should be performed by those who are fit to perform the rites of Hajj. Quran makes it clear that Hajj is obligatory on those who are physically and financially capable of undertaking it. If a person is suffering from chronic illness or permanent disability, there is no obligation on him to perform Hajj. However, disabled / differently abled Muslims who wish to perform Hajj can fulfill their wish if adequate preparations are made. Before making any bookings, a disabled person should consult with his/her travel agent in detail. Jeddah airport has all the facilities for the disabled. Your travel agent should ensure that the airport staff is advised about your needs in advance.
The Grand Mosque in Makkah is well-equipped for the disabled. Wheel-chairs are provided free of charge in Masjid-ul-Haram but if you need someone to push your wheelchair, you will be charged money for the service.

Note: It is recommended to consult and seek an opinion from scholars on doubtful Islamic matters.
