Assuming ihram from meeqat
Assuming Ihram is an obligatory act of Hajj which highlights the importance of Ihram in Hajj. People often are confused about things like when to wear Ihram or where to wear Ihram? Anyone who passes through one of the Meeqats (sites/locations for entering the state of Ihram for Hajj and Umrah) whether by air, land, or sea is obliged to enter the state of Ihram if he/she has the intention to perform Hajj or Umrah. One does not have to assume Ihram if one does not want to perform Hajj or Umrah. If a person travels beyond the Meeqat without the intention of doing Hajj or Umrah but later intended to perform it, he may enter Ihram from the place where he intended. If the person intends to perform Umrah outside Al-Haram, he is entitled to enter Ihram from the place where he makes the intention. If he intends it inside Al-Haram, he should leave its precincts and enter Ihram for Umrah from the closest Hill. To know more about Ihram and ways to wear Ihram, click here.
It was narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) stopped at Al-Muhassab. He called Abdul Rahman ibn Abu Bakr and said to him, ‘Take your sister out of the Haram (the Sanctuary) and let her enter Ihram for Umrah, then let her circumambulate the Kaabah. I will wait for you both here. She (Aisha) said: ‘so, we went out and I entered Ihram, then I circumambulated the Kaabah and did Saa‘ee between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then we came to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) at his camp in the middle of the night. He (pbuh) said, ‘Have you finished?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He gave his Companions (May Allah be pleased with them) permission to move on, and he went out to the Kaabah and circumambulated it before Fajr Prayer, and then he left for Madinah.
